Practical questions
After an older adult falls: home review or emergency help?
Do not start with a routine home-doctor booking if an older adult has fallen and may have a serious injury or cannot get up. Call 998 in the UAE when emergency help is needed and follow the dispatcher’s advice. A planned doctor-at-home review in Dubai can address later concerns, but it is not a substitute for immediate injury assessment.

Make safety the first decision
If head, neck, back or hip injury is suspected, or the person cannot get up, obtain emergency help rather than trying to lift them yourself. Tell the operator about consciousness, breathing and what happened. Do not assume the person is uninjured because they say they are embarrassed or do not want to bother anyone.

Keep a clear account for the clinician
After immediate care has been arranged, note whether the fall was witnessed, any symptoms before it, the time and any injury. Bring the current medicine list and previous fall history. Do not stop a medicine because you suspect it contributed; ask the responsible clinician to review it.

Use follow-up to reduce another fall
A later review may consider balance, strength, vision, medicines, underlying conditions and hazards at home. Ask what assessment is suitable, which changes can be made safely and who follows up any referrals. Do not assume buying a walking aid or arranging one home visit resolves the reasons for repeated falls.

Common questions
Should I lift an injured person after a fall?
Do not try to lift them yourself when injury is suspected; seek appropriate emergency guidance.
Is a routine home visit enough if they cannot get up?
Do not rely on a routine booking; obtain urgent emergency help.
Does a fall need review if there was no obvious injury?
Discuss it with a clinician, especially if falls recur or balance has changed.
Sources and information limits
Sources support general medical principles, not the UAE booking policies or service availability. Confirm instructions and local arrangements with the care provider. The update date does not claim clinician review.
Content policy and review statusQuestions before arranging an appointment?
Enquire about the next steps and availability. An enquiry does not confirm a booking or diagnosis and is not an emergency service.
